This
new procedure offers several advantages over conventional sinus
surgery. Most importantly, it gives the doctor an enhanced surgical
view of the nasal passages and sinus area.
Using a laser and a specially
designed endoscope to irrigate the nasal cavity with warm salt
water, Dr. Paley can remove polyps and diseased tissue, as well
as correct deviated septums and old fractures. The procedure
uses an endoscope with a camera attached to project the view
of the sinus area onto a television screen while warm, salt water
is constantly irrigated through the nose. There is virtually
no significant bleeding using this technique, which allows for
an excellent view of the surgical area, providing for optimal
safety and minimal risk of complications.
In addition to the increased view
of the surgical field, Sinu-Clear offers patients distinct advantages
over traditional sinus surgery. Sinu-Clear is performed on an outpatient
basis, so a hospital stay is not required. Typically, patients
experience less facial pain and swelling. Since there is minimal
bleeding and less tissue trauma than with conventional surgery,
there is rarely any bruising. Patients return home the same day
with no nasal packing which reduces discomfort and post-operative
pain. Additionally, the recuperation time is short, allowing the
patient to return to work or their regular routines within a few
days.
